ADU and remodeling contractor in San Gabriel
The City of San Gabriel reviews its own ADUs through Planning and Building, not through Pasadena and not through Los Angeles County or Orange County. Lots are often smaller, alleys matter, and the house on the street is older than a new tract. The unit in back should not look like it landed from somewhere else.

We build ADUs, garage conversions, kitchens, baths, and room additions in San Gabriel for people who live in the house. Permits are pulled with the city. The first visit is a walk of the yard, the garage, the panel, and the path a lumber delivery would actually use.
Call with the address. If it is just outside the city line, we will tell you which building department has it.
City of San Gabriel, not the valley in general
San Gabriel’s Planning Division and Building Division review ADU and remodel permits for addresses inside the city. The city publishes its own ADU materials and takes applications through Community Development. Alhambra, Rosemead, Temple City, Monterey Park, and San Marino are the next counter over. We build there too. We do not submit them to San Gabriel by mistake.
Smaller lots and alley access
A San Gabriel backyard is rarely a wide Inland Empire yard. Side-yard access for concrete, lumber, and a mini-split has to be measured. Rear entries and fire access get checked before we promise a detached unit. If the garage is the realistic project, we say that.
Match the house
Mission-era streets, Spanish revival, and mid-century houses all read the addition. Stucco, roof, and window color are in the scope. A box that ignores the front house is how these jobs look cheap.
The San Gabriel Valley around it
If your search was the valley and not the city limits, you are still in the right place. Pasadena has its own page. The other valley cities sit on the same route, each with its own inspector.
Local questions
Do you only work inside San Gabriel city limits?
No. San Gabriel is one stop on a route that includes Pasadena, Los Angeles County, Orange County, Alhambra, Monterey Park, and the rest of the west valley. The page is specific because the city’s checklist is specific.
Can a small San Gabriel lot take a detached ADU?
Sometimes. Setbacks, alley or side-yard access, and the utilities decide it. A junior ADU inside the house or a garage conversion is often the honest plan. We will not sell you a two-bedroom casita the lot cannot hold.
